Meet Robin!

Happy Friday! We would like to introduce our lovely employee Robin! Please see below for her bio:

Robin McNally was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area.  She graduated from Tamalpias High School in Mill Valley and continued on to College of Marin and Dominican University.  She has two children, Michael 27 and Chelsea 18 who are constant source of pride to her.  In her free time she enjoys kayaking, sailing, and hiking.  Robin has always had an entrepreneurial spirit, and has worked as a bookkeeper, a bartender and built a photography business in her free time.  While raising her son Michael she was introduced to the jewelry business, which inspired her to become a graduate gemologist, at the Gemological Institute of America where she also mastered the art of bead stringing and pearl grading.    She has been involved in all aspects of the jewelry industry, working in retail, wholesale, design and repair. Robin now works as an appraiser and is a member of the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers.    She is always willing to share her knowledge with others and enjoys helping customers discover their hidden treasures at SF Gold Buyer.

Meet our founder Huntley Barad!

Huntley Barad began his business career very young. As a little boy growing up in St. Louis, Missouri, he was an avid collector and trader of coins and stamps. By the time he was a teenager, he was a successful “vest pocket dealer”, buying and selling at coin shows and collector meetings. Going off to college in 1966, he was quickly caught up in all the distractions available to students in those days, and abandoned his sideline in coins. After coming to his senses and settling down in St. Louis to raise a family, he started up his coin business again on a part time basis, dealing mostly in bullion during the metals boom years of the seventies. His main vocation was his photo studio, where he specialized in commercial, fashion, and architectural work.

Moving to California with his wife Tirzah in the late eighties necessitated another change of direction, as there were already plenty of photographers in San Francisco. Eventually finding his place in the software industry, Huntley caught the tech wave in the early 90s just as the Internet was starting to open up to public and business applications. He worked in the earliest stages of the network integration field, and progressed to the point where he was involved with integration of multi million dollar installations of SAP and Oracle software environments. After the Tech Meltdown of 2001, Huntley sailed into more peaceful waters (he thought) in the Health Insurance Industry. He built a successful brokerage focusing on individual and group health plans. With the emergence of the national debate on health insurance, he foresaw a very rocky road for Health Insurance Brokers, and started looking for new horizons.

With assistance from his wife and brothers, Huntley founded San Francisco Gold Buyer in the early months of 2009. Stressing a focus on friendly service, accurate appraisal and the highest pay-outs, SF Gold Buyer rapidly became widely known in the region and highly valued as the place to go if you want the best deal on your gold, silver, watches, estate jewelry, and coins.

Huntley is an avid musician and record collector. He sings, plays bass fiddle, electric bass, guitar, piano; and performs regularly with the blues trio “Mighty Mississippi”. Besides Blues and R& B bands, his musical background includes Country & Western bands, various and sundry Rock bands, a Samba band, and a Surf group.
